Elliott Atkins, BSc(Hons) LRPS
Born in Northampton, and educated at the University of Kent at Canterbury, Elliott's photographic career started in the music industry during the late 1990s. After working with a number of artists and bands, he undertook the task of photographing Travis for their official website (www.travisonline.com).
Over a period of 6 years, he worked closely with the band to capture them on stage, in the studio and in more personal moments. He is credited on two Travis albums ("The Man Who" and "The Invisible Band") and his photographs appear on the sleeve artwork for the "Travis - More Than Us" DVD.
Shooting reportage footage whilst on tour around the world provided Elliott with first-hand experience of working in high pressure environments, with no possibility for a second chance to capture that all important shot.
Originally using 35mm film SLR bodies, he was an early convert to digital photography which allowed almost instant updates to the Travis website to be made from anywhere in the world.
After leaving London, Elliott decided to concentrate on combining two passions - aviation and photography. He formed echoalpha to provide creative and exciting images to all sections of the aviation industry, drawing on the experiences gained elsewhere in his photographic career.
He is honoured to have been awarded the prestigious Licentiateship of the Royal Photographic Society (LRPS), following the successful submission of a portfolio of aviation images for assessment by a panel. He is now working towards achieving the society's Associate Distinction (ARPS) award.
